Chattanooga FC has earned another playoff night at Finley Stadium after defeating CT United FC 3-1 in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference Semifinals.
The victory sends the Chattanooga club to the Eastern Conference Final, where it is scheduled to host Columbus Crew 2 on Sunday, November 1, at 5 p.m. Eastern.
The match gives local supporters another opportunity to see postseason soccer at home, with a place in the league championship round at stake.
Sunday’s semifinal remained scoreless until Tate Robertson opened the scoring in the 61st minute with a long-range effort.
CT United equalized four minutes later, but Chattanooga quickly reclaimed the lead when Alex Krehl converted a penalty following a foul on Daniel Mangarov.
Substitute Steeve Louis Jean then finished a counterattack in the 83rd minute, giving the home side breathing room.
The result is a significant milestone for the independent club, which has reached the deepest postseason stage of any independent team in MLS NEXT Pro history.
Head coach Richard Dixon credited the players’ willingness to contribute regardless of their minutes on the field.
For Chattanooga sports fans, the turnaround from a tight second-half contest to a two-goal win creates real momentum heading into the next round.
Anyone planning to attend should confirm ticket availability and match details before heading downtown.
The next chapter comes at Finley Stadium on November 1. |
