Drivers around Chattanooga have several roadwork and traffic updates to watch during the final week of October, especially on neighborhood streets where utility crews and resurfacing teams are active.

Hamilton Avenue has one of the week's clearest scheduled closures: the 600 block between East Bell Avenue and Crescent Street will close on Friday, October 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a crane lift.

Motorists heading through that area should select another route before the Friday work window.

On Bailey Avenue, the 1700 block is scheduled for lane shifts and intermittent restrictions from October 26 through October 30 while crews complete curb work.

At least one lane in each direction is expected to remain open, but slower travel is possible near the work zone.

The 900 block of Siskin Drive is closed for utility work through Thursday, October 29.

Other projects involve single-lane operations and flagging, including utility work on Suck Creek Road between Signal Mountain Boulevard and city limits.

Resurfacing is also scheduled along Campbell Street from Addison Road to Highway 153, while St. Elmo Avenue has utility work between 56th and 57th streets.

Bridge inspections near the railroad overpasses on Bonny Oaks Drive by Hickory Valley Road may bring additional brief traffic restrictions.

City resurfacing work is planned for Fagan Street between Workman Road and East 37th Street, plus West 14th Street between Market Street and Cowart Street.

Those paving locations are not scheduled for full road closures, but drivers may encounter flaggers, temporary driveway interruptions and parking restrictions as work progresses.

Several high-profile closures from the previous weekend, including the East Brainerd Road CSX bridge shutdown, were scheduled to end Monday, October 26 and should not be treated as ongoing restrictions.

With Halloween gatherings approaching, allow extra time for evening and weekend trips, follow posted work-zone instructions and check for updates before leaving home.

Dates and work schedules can shift because of weather or construction conditions.
