Chattanooga and Southeast Tennessee have a full calendar for November 6–8, with a county fair, fan convention, live orchestral music, historic demonstrations and family-friendly outings across the region.

Whether the goal is an evening show or an inexpensive Saturday excursion, the choices stretch well beyond downtown.

Friday, November 6: Hamilton County Fair opens its weekend run at McDonald Farm in Sale Creek.

The fair continues through Sunday with traditional attractions and entertainment, making it one of the region's biggest family outings.

Readers looking for a full schedule can consult the separate fair feature in this issue.

Saturday, November 7: Pioneer Day brings local history to Poe's Tavern Historical Park in Soddy-Daisy from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The free event offers an opportunity to see traditional crafts and living-history activities in a setting that helps connect today's community to earlier generations.

Also on Saturday, the Tennessee Festival of Vendors hosts a holiday shopping event in Hixson from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

With seasonal gifts and vendor booths, it offers an early start for anyone hoping to shop locally before the December rush.

The Chattanooga Convention Center welcomes Chattanooga Comic Con on Saturday and Sunday.

The two-day event brings together comics, gaming, cosplay, artists and pop-culture fans, with Saturday hours listed as 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday hours as 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

At the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium, the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera presents Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert on November 7 and 8.

A live orchestra performs John Williams' score alongside the movie, offering a different kind of night out for music and film fans.

Outdoor-minded residents have another Saturday option with History by Kayak: Chief Dragging Canoe from Outdoor Chattanooga and National Park Partners.

The guided paddle is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Tennessee River Gorge, combining fall scenery with regional history.

Sunday, November 8 offers a slower start with Farmer's on First in downtown Cleveland from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Shoppers can browse the Sunday farmers market while enjoying a visit to Cleveland's downtown area.

Outdoor Chattanooga also lists a beginner mountain-biking session on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., designed to introduce basic skills and practice.

The weekend closes with a major sporting event as Chattanooga FC hosts LAFC 2 for the MLS NEXT Pro Cup at Finley Stadium on Sunday at 6 p.m.

The national championship is important enough to deserve its own sports coverage, but it also belongs on the weekend calendar for families choosing how to spend Sunday evening.

There is no single way to enjoy the weekend: a fairground visit, a historic demonstration, a concert seat or a walk through a local market can all make for a memorable November outing.

Admission prices, registration requirements and program details vary, so readers should check with event organizers before heading out.
