Election Day 2026: What Chattanooga and Hamilton County Voters Need to Know |
Polling places, photo ID rules and key local races for Tuesday, November 3 |

Tuesday, November 3, is Election Day in Chattanooga and across Hamilton County, with voting open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
Residents who did not vote early can cast a ballot at their assigned Election Day precinct.
That location may differ from an early voting site, so checking before leaving home is an important first step.
The Tennessee voter lookup service and the Hamilton County Election Commission's polling-place finder can identify the correct precinct for each registered voter.
Voters should bring an acceptable Tennessee or federal government-issued photo ID, such as a Tennessee driver's license, even if that ID has expired.
Student identification cards do not meet Tennessee's photo identification requirement.
The 2026 general election includes contests for governor, U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, along with applicable state Senate and state House districts.
Three proposed amendments to the Tennessee Constitution also appear on the ballot.
In Hamilton County, additional municipal contests give residents in several communities a direct say in local leadership.
Those include the East Ridge mayoral race, city council seats in East Ridge, and municipal offices in Collegedale, Red Bank, Signal Mountain and Soddy-Daisy.
Other local contests are scheduled in Lakesite, Ridgeside and Walden, depending on where a voter lives.
Because ballot choices vary by address, residents should review their own sample ballot rather than assume that every neighbor sees the same races.
Anyone unsure about a precinct, registration record or ballot question can contact the Hamilton County Election Commission at 423-209-8683.
Election staff can also direct voters to official resources for accessible voting and polling-place information.
The commission's office is at 700 River Terminal Road in Chattanooga, but voters should not assume that office is their assigned voting site.
Those arriving near the evening deadline should know that a voter already in line when the polls close is generally entitled to remain and vote.
With statewide decisions and local offices both at stake, today's ballot reaches from Tennessee's Capitol to neighborhood government.
Before heading out, take a moment to confirm your assigned location, bring the appropriate ID and allow time to vote. |
