Chattanooga’s Fourth of July Weekend Brings Fireworks, Drone Show, and Riverfront Fun |
America 250 festivities include Pops on the River at Coolidge Park, a July 4 riverfront finale, a 500-drone show, and a pyro waterfall from the Market Street Bridge. |
Chattanooga’s Fourth of July weekend will bring two major riverfront celebrations downtown as the city marks America’s 250th anniversary with music, fireworks, family activities, and a new drone-show finale.
The holiday celebration begins with Pops on the River on Thursday, July 2, from 4 to 11 p.m. at Coolidge Park. The long-running community event includes live music, food trucks, a Homegrown Vendor Market, Kids Zone activities, and a performance by the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, followed by a large fireworks display.
The city’s larger United 250 Mayors’ Finale Celebration is set for Saturday, July 4, from 10 to 11 p.m. along the Chattanooga Riverfront. The free downtown event, produced in partnership with Hamilton County, will feature a 500-drone show above the Tennessee River and a 1,000-foot pyro waterfall cascading from the Market Street Bridge.
Riverfront Nights will lead into Saturday’s America 250 finale at Ross’s Landing, giving families and visitors a full evening downtown before the drone and pyro show. The city says special-event road closures will be in place around Ross’s Landing from noon until midnight, so attendees should plan for extra traffic, parking demand, and walking time.
For families, the best plan is to arrive early, bring water, prepare for summer heat, and choose viewing spots before the evening crowds build. Coolidge Park and the North Shore will be the center of Thursday’s Pops on the River, while Saturday’s finale will focus on the downtown riverfront and Market Street Bridge area.
This year’s celebration is more than a traditional fireworks weekend. As part of Chattanooga’s America 250 programming, the events connect music, public gathering spaces, technology, and patriotic celebration into one of the city’s biggest community weekends of the summer. |
