Internationally recognized artist Cecilia Lueza will create a vibrant public artwork at the 11th |
The City of Chattanooga has selected internationally recognized muralist Cecilia Lueza to create a large-scale public artwork at the 11th Street entrance to the MLK District, across from City Hall. The project is intended to serve as a colorful gateway into one of the city’s most culturally significant neighborhoods.
Known for her bold, nature-inspired murals around the world, Lueza’s work often celebrates community, local identity, and the environment. Chattanooga officials say the new mural will incorporate themes that reflect the region’s landscapes, wildlife, and the unique character of the MLK District.
The installation is part of the city’s ongoing investment in public art and placemaking, with the goal of creating a more welcoming experience for residents and visitors while highlighting the neighborhood’s history and vibrancy.
Once completed, the mural will transform a highly visible retaining wall into a landmark piece of public art, adding another reason to explore the MLK District and its restaurants, businesses, and cultural attractions. |
